CRACK has been lovingly updating classic games for over a decade now, and the results have been spectacular. The company’s latest release is Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, which is now available for download! In this post we'll be talking about what makes it a definitive release, as well as what's new and different from the original. A couple things: 1. We've decided to release this as a free download. We didn't want to sell it, and we don't think people should have to pay for it – so we decided to make this a free download, and let people decide if they want to support us or not. I think that's the right way of doing things (and the only way I think we really can). That said, if you want a physical USB drive version of this game sent out to you, then please contact me at crack-support@peachpit.com and leave your address and price for which you would like the game sent and I'll give you a quote (probably sooner than later). 2. We haven't packed this as a 32-bit executable. That's because with the exception of a couple features this IS a 64-bit executable. In general I don't want to put limits on people's machines, but if you really can't install it because your computer doesn't have 32-bit support, please let us know and we will figure something out for you – if there is anything we can do to help, let us know! 3. You might have noticed that the installer files are now Windows-based – that's because going forward it is increasingly more difficult for us to reliably deliver Mac versions of our downloads – so for now at least, they are only available from the Mac versions of the downloads on our website. As a result, we've decided to stop working on Mac downloads for this title, and instead focus on Windows-based downloads for this title. 4. A few things have been added to the networking code on this version of the game – some fixes that have been in CRACK's codebase for a while have been implemented on ours. That said, it is still being developed actively on our end, so there may be a few more additions coming down the pipe soon! 5. We've also put in some work to improve framerate limits and overall performance of the game – it still needs a lot of work in this area, but we've made significant progress since we started these efforts weeks ago. 6. We've also gotten a lot of bug reports from users since this version of the game was released, and we've resolved a lot of them already – if you haven't seen it mentioned in the changelog, there is a new "Bug Reports" section towards the bottom that contains bug reports that we received within the past week or so. If your bug report hasn't been addressed yet, just let us know and we'll put it on our list! 7. We downloaded and played this game for about 4 hours yesterday (spread out over multiple days), and we did some play-testing with our team and some friends over the weekend – but we haven't gotten to all of them yet. cfa1e77820
